From St Petersburg Aug 22 a military revolt spreads along the Manchurian border as General Pantelaef and the czar flee. The report says Kiberian troops are completely out of hand and would side with revolutionists in a general uprising.
Pittsburg Pa August 22 On information and a valid warrant William George Shaffer aged two was yesterday arrested and held in Magistrate Armstrong's office charged with malicious mischief He was likely the youngest prisoner in court Frank Isher neighbor accused the child of tearing up his front yard Magistrate Armstrong declined to hear the case suggesting resolution.
In Middlebury two frightened racehorses pulling a government roadster bolted, throwing their driver and injuring him badly. The horses, valued at 1000, damaged themselves severely and may be ruined. Authorities unclear on due to men and number of occupants.
Readville Maass Aug 21 High Ball with Fl Geers in the sulky won the grand circuit Massachusetts stakes valued at 100000. Sonoma Girl broke badly in heat causing her undoing while High Ball hustled to the lead. Nearly 12000 spectators witnessed the racing as multiple events including the Massachusetts 2:14 Trot and Readville 2:12 Pace were contested with times around 2:00.
Barton hosts a fast day with a wall game between St Johnston and Barton end in a 3 to 2 Barton win. David P Holt aged 77 died at the home of his daughter Mrs George Emerson in Berlin after a brief illness while visiting his wife. He was a native of Marshfield and longtime resident of Northfield where he ran a boot and shoe shop for 40 years. Survived by a wife, three sons James P of this city, Fred L and Victor of Brookfield, and a daughter, with a brother and other relatives. Thomas O Grady a respected Barre railroad brakeman was killed in the M and W freight yard when he slipped and fell between an engine and a loaded granite car. The front wheel crushed his right side as he lay between cars and he died four minutes later. He was taken to Northfield Falls. funeral plans pending at St John church Northfield. O Grady aged 40 born East Granville, member of AOH Montpelier and Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen. He leaves three brothers and two sisters.
