Police and health officials ruled the death a self inflicted gunshot by Frank Hines age about 60 who was found propped between a trunk and a door in a room on Bank Street. Hines, a former farm hand from Mallette Bay, had been ill and lived comfortably on savings and there was no note explaining his death. A revolver lay near the body and neighbors say the shot was not heard until discovery shortly after 8 AM.

Tragic Axion in Kitchen Accident Fatal to Young Girl
Seph Gelpi, age two years and four months, died after backing into a pan of hot water and ammonia while a cart was nearby. The incident occurred Thursday morning as the mother mopped the kitchen floor. A pan of hot water and ammonia was left on the Minor, leading to the fatal burn. The mother summoned Dr W D Reid, but the child’s condition worsened over time. Funeral services will be held at the Gelpi home tomorrow at 2 PM with burial in Hope Cemetery.
