Died on visit in Barre from Arthur Ontario
The death of Mrs. Kenneth McRae of Arthur Ontario occurred at City hospital this forenoon after visiting Barre with her sister Mrs. George Stewart of 10 Warren Street. She came with her younger daughter Elizabeth McRae and later fell gravely ill. A week later she was moved to the hospital where an operation was performed. Surviving are her husband, an older daughter Jessie Mintae in Port Arthur, two brothers one in Port Arthur who recently returned from France with the Canadian army, and a brother in England. A Port Arthur sister also survives. Funeral arrangements are not yet set, though burial is expected in Port Arthur.

Fiery Darts Struck Barns In Vermont Farm Fire
St Albans Vermont August 17 a severe electrical storm struck two farms early this morning causing major barn fires. On the M L Corliss farm in St Albans Town a hay barn holding about 40 to 50 tons burned with contents worth about 1500 dollars, little insurance. At 8 Allen Soule’s Fairfield farm another hay and cow barn plus a tool house and an attached building burned losing 50 to 60 tons of hay a double wagon and other items. Hogs were saved and cattle driven to pasture as neighbors saved two more large barns. Insurance not yet known.
