G W Lorimer of Troy wins the Grand American with 18 targets hit of 20 in a tight field. Gannon and Hellyer place second and third as Lorimer debuts a new gun, dropping targets at 11th and 13th. First prize is 87105 with 5489 and 428 awarded to next places.

Built at Wilmington, N C, the vessel displaces about 3,000 tons.
New York August report shows Mayor Hylan mobilizing city and island forces to counter a potential transit strike. Gov Island command promised 200 trucks with 80 passengers each to aid the public, while city autos are held in reserve. Interborough Rapid Transit threatens 4 am walkout over wage demands amid talks with the Board of Estimates and City Hall.
Pittsburg August 1 The strike of 3000 motormen and conductors of the FE Street Railway tied up transport since Thursday. A conference among company receivers strikers and Mayer EV. Babcock produced a compromise figure of nine cents an hour. Receivers held to six cents as recently awarded by the war labor board while the men sought 12 cents.

Plaintiff claims ownership of part of Vermont Maple Syrup Inc stock. defendant’s real estate in Rosex Junction listed. Allen Martin served as clerk for the Vermont corporation.

Philo J Bruce a Barre native and railroad brakeman died after a Lehigh Valley Co yard collision near Hazelton Pa He suffered a compound leg fracture and facial lacerations and died Thursday afternoon His mother Lillie Bruce of Brooklyn Street and brother A Brice of South Barre survived by wife and four year old daughter Lilian The accident occurred around midnight last Wednesday and Bruce was taken to the State hospital where amputation was found unnecessary and later he died in Hazelton His burial will be in Hazelton per the family plans
