British medical officers in Haxebrouck report a new colorless liquid used in shells near Armentieres on the Belgian frontier. The liquid spreads over soil, evaporates to a heavy gas, and affects mainly women. The ceremony officiated by Rev C Conners of East Calnix used the double ring service. Attendants were Miss Mildred Bates and Weston A Cate with Mendelssohn's wedding march from a vietrola. The couple plan to honeymoon at Mallet Bay and reside in North Calais. Out of town guests included Mr and Mrs Frank K Freeboon and others from Marlboro Somerville Marshfield and North Calais.
An eleventh hour poliomyelitis case was confirmed in Barre as Health Officer Stewart and Dr. Edward Taylor diagnosed a nine to be ill in a North Main Street home above a blacksmith shop. Authorities fear several more cases may follow unless quarantines hold.
Mrs Cora Sanborn aged 21 wife of Jacob Sanborn is dying in City hospital after a second suicide attempt within 24 hours. Found unconscious in their May street home with her husband’s photograph, the odor of wood alcohol on her breath.
