Alec Wagner Returns to Plainfield After Escape Reform

Charles Sharkey Dead Veteran Barre Resident and Mail Carrier

Charles Sharkey, Civil War veteran and longtime Barre resident, died Saturday at his daughter Mrs William Frasman’s Winter Hill home in Massachusetts. Funeral services will be Tuesday at Hooker & Co. mortuary with Rev. J B Bearden officiating. burial at Hope Cemetery. Comrades John T Averill and others will be pallbearers. He moved to Winter Hill in 1914 after years of mail delivery in Barre.

Three Men Attack Austrian Worker in Barre

Eugene Gapit a 20 year old Austrian granite cutter was set upon by three men on Citela street late Saturday night. They beat him and fired two revolver shots before he feigned unconsciousness and escaped to box 4% for help. He was taken to police headquarters as three suspects Pietro Zampini Pietro Garele and G Polti were arrested early Sunday and held without bail on felonious assault charges with intent to kill. The assault followed a quarrel over local labor strike sentiment and Gapit’s motion months ago. He is reported in fairly favorable condition.

Two Lodges Attend Funeral of Aberdeen Resident
