Barre Welcomes William Jennings Bryan in Barre Vermont
William Jennings Bryan, Democratic leader, spent fourteen hours in Barre as the final Vermont stop of a two day tour. He spoke on The Average Man to a large audience, praised government by the people, and urged reforms including popular elections for senators and the initiative and referendum.
