Indianapolis April 24 Five people were killed when a Big Four railroad wreck occurred near North Indianapolis this morning. Police and investigators cordon the area as emergency crews work the scene. Clear details on exact cause and identifications were not immediately available.

Joseph Jefferson the renowned actor died at his Palm Beach home She Reefs at 1 14 pm yesterday after a period of illness. His wife stood with him as did nurse Miss Mabel Bingham and Dr K B Potter. The body will be sent to Boston for vault burial until the family can gather. The funeral arrangements are not yet made. The Jefferson family plans to bring the body to Bursard's Bay on a special train for burial in Bay View cemetery.
A high sightseing automobile crashed into a billboard fence at Eighth Avenue and Twenty seventh Street in New York. One man, identified as Koster, died from a fractured skull shortly after the accident. Two women were badly hurt. Joseph Wyn, the chauffeur, faced charges and was briefly jailed before release on a $1,000 bond.
At the residence of Mr and Mrs Horden Jones of Chelsea a daughter of theirs wed John Cody of Boston. The ceremony was performed by the name Poole Napang with about twenty people present. The bride wore roses and the couple plan to reside in Barre.
Announcement of the marriage of Miss M. M. Benjamin, a Berlin girl with local artistic reputation, to Frank Burns an architect in Los Angeles. Miss Benjamin left Berlin last fall after her father died and moved to Los Angeles where she pursued water color painting.
Sheriff Travey brought George Lavil from Cambridge Massachusetts to the county jail to answer an embezzlement charge involving the Peerless Casualty Company where he served as local agent. The warrant had been in police hands ten days prior, with Cambridge authorities and an unclear accompanying note about a wife.

A quartet of intoxication defendants appeared in city court this morning. James Glennon of Moretown paid a $5 fine and $10.24 in costs after an arrest by Officer Hamel Saturday night. John Fox of Montpelier pleaded guilty to a second offense, fined $15 with zero costs, and may be sent to Rutland. Fox had prior intoxication fines. William Baker of Montpelier paid $13.14 after arrest by Officer Mel. J A Donnelly of Barre city received an alternate ten day jail sentence following round up by Officer Carle.
Fred McFeeters of a hillside cotte shelter near Scott quarry hosted W A Cutler J N McGlellan and J B Ward as constables, a deputy sheriff, and a surprise visit turned into a police search. A rattled McFeeters yielded a whiskey stash from a leanto hole including three quarts of whiskey, two wine bottles, and several other containers. The complaint, sworn by States Attorney Jackson, was heard by Justice A C Dickey at East Barre with E R Davis for the State and M M Gordon for the defense.
George J. Flanders died after a two week illness with typhoid fever at age 53. He lived most of his life in Orange and traveled widely in the West. Funeral set for Wednesday at two o'clock from the church in Orange. He leaves three brothers and one sister, all of Orange. He was a member of Gill Lodge No 47 Odd Fellows East Barre Granite Encampment Red Men and the Grange of Washington. escort duty to be provided by Gill Lodge members at one o'clock Wednesday.
Alexander Marr child aged two years and ten months died Saturday night from pneumonia after measles. Funeral held this afternoon at two, interment in Hope cemetery. Moral tributes included carnations, lilies, roses from numerous named pairs and individuals.
Rutland judge held April 24 sentencing for 17 year old Willson Loramwr after city court found him guilty of larceny. He was fined 20 and costs for stealing a gold watch and chain frame house.
Goddard Seminary defeated Norwich University 4 to 3 in ten innings on the Northfield field. Capt Fraser starred with a record strikeout performance, fanning twenty three of thirty batters. Goddard out hit Norwich eight to four and capitalized on four Norwich errors, with key hits by Cannell Fraser and other players sealing the extra inning win. Goddard 4 Norwich 3.
