A series of fires on the East Side of New York destroyed stables belonging to the Dispatch Express Company. Four firemen died and three are reported missing as a collision with a wagon wrecked two engines. About 370 horses perished, with ten firemen seriously injured. Bodies retrieved today, only one identified.
Thomas A Temple dies after a fire at his son’s home in Norwich on Sunday evening. The 34 year old is believed to be a victim with several relatives noted as survivors. Funeral services set for 2 o’clock in the church with Rev Dr Lacie Waterman of Hanover officiating.

Alburgh Springs April 25 Alle wley marked her 101st birthday at the home of David Hawley on Beach Ridge. Hawley had suffered a stroke but later recovered and is now quite well.
William J Bryan returns from Fall River to attend a breakfast in his honor by Governor and at the club. The guest of the former seventh army person who served with Colonel Bryan in the Spanish war addressed the reception and at two o clock left for Lawnd where he will speak this afternoon.
Barton April 23 Charles Rush a well to do farmer aged 50 was found dead in his barn yesterday afternoon after going to put up his horse. He was attacked by the horse and trampled to death as help arrived from Skinner of Barton Landing who summoned Mrs Rush.
Miss Mary, a 16 year old in Bellows Falls on April 23, was assaulted while returning home at night. A man grabbed her from behind, struck her with a stone, inflicting head wounds, and fled before officers could capture him. The community awaited news of the suspect’s capture.

Peter Rickey, charged as an accomplice, was apprehended this morning and jailed awaiting hearing. He was found aboard a southbound sleeper and will be brought to the city. The case involved dispatching menswear with no proper orders and the police searched for other participants. Walcott April 2 Funeral services for C.G. Tillotson were held today at the church in Wolcott with Rev. J. H. Lawrie officiating. He died at home in St. Johnsbury and is survived by a wife and five children, his mother Mrs. J. A. Tillotson, and two brothers. The service was conducted by A. It Merrit, with burial at Mineral Springs. The deceased had returned to Wolcott for treatment after illness.
