White River Junction April 21 Dr C B Ward of Hartford and Lewis Kelley of Windsor were insured in an automobile accident at Hubbard Bridge two miles out of town. The car struck the end of the bridge head on, Kelley being thrown over the bank. Kelley suffered a broken leg while Ward and the other two men had bruises. FORGER SENTENCED IN HUTLAND COUNTY COURT
Rutland April 21 The petit jurors at the Maret term of Hutland county court tried 11 cases with six criminal matters and one verdict against the respondent. In five civil cases one verdict favored the plaintiff, three favored defendants, and one settled. Brown of Brandon, 22, son of a Methodist minister, was sentenced to house of correction for forging a $57,000 check. Brown addressed the court for clemency, claiming impact on his aged father. Other sentences included Blanchant of Pittsfield, Barke of Fair Haven, and Melle Geary of Rutland, with penalties ranging from two years to three years at the house of correction or state prison.

Narrow escape after wagon toss on Granite Street
