Fire broke out at noon in the heart of Rochester's Bundnews district as wind fanned flames threatening four buildings and the St Peter's Presbyterian church. Firemen battled the blaze, four people were seriously injured by jumping from upper windows, and the blaze prompted a general alarm.
Rutland April 13 The True Blue Marble mill at Whipple Hollow near West Rutland owned by Rutland Florence Marble company of Fowler reopened after a December shutdown caused by drop in orders. A government rep said business improved with a deal landed and crews will run 60 workers by week’s end. An application was filed with the secretary of state for a wholesale liquor license renewal.

Newport April 18 Carl R B Storrs deputy collector and inspector of eve toms died suddenly this morning of heart failure after a grippe attack. He had been in the Ottawa Servite for ten years serving eight years as editor for the Memphremay district He was active in his circles in the plate. He was the son of the late Judge D S Storrs of Island Pond and leaves his wife one daughter and one son.
In Richford on April 13 Lyman H. Smith's Province street house suffered a major blaze. Firefighters arrived quickly but flames raged over an hour, gutting the ell roof and chamber while the main part was damaged. Mr and Mrs LeRoy Smith reported hundreds of dollars in furniture losses and effects. Cause remains unknown.

The Barre and Montpelier directors met in Montpelier to organize offices with T G Carewell elected president and W Hom Wishart as clerk. Montpelier officers include Daniel Donnelly as secretary treasurer and a slate of Barre directors. They plan a summer league with a $1500 salary cap and consider a league treasurer to manage gate receipts and bills.
The wedding of Carrie Draper formerly a city public school teacher to Dr Walter C Woodward formerly of Randolph who is now in Seattle took place Monday March 22 at Mrs Bo Gurrs home with a small group of friends present. A reception followed at the home of Mr and Mrs John Claude Moore where the bride wore a brown traveling gown. Mrs Woodward will be fondly remembered by many in this city for her recent visit before leaving for Seattle.

In a Boston boxing tournament context, Rydberg suffered severe injuries when a several ton granite block fell during loading. O Leary aided as the weight dropped, fracturing both legs above the knees. Despite the serious harm, he was placed on a stretcher and moved to hospital with non life threatening injuries.
The C C F Pair opened their fair in Woodmen hall with a Saint order Foresters event. Attendance was good for the opening night and the program featured a 8 to 9 pm concert by the Sarre Citizens' band. Afterward dancing until midnight featured Gilberton's four piece orchestra. Three decorated booths offered candy and refreshments with local women staffing booths and parlor activities. The Ebony minstrel show was billed as a highlight for the evening.
