Tragedy on Bridge as Father Dies Saving Daughter
Northfield April 12 A man William Cone 46 perished while trying to save his daughter Minnie 14 who was drowned when struck by a northbound engine on the Central Vermont railroad near the Roxbury line. The bodies were found after the double accident on the Dog River trestle. the engineer reported seeing a man and girl on the track. Minnie’s body recovered later showed a minor bruise. Cone’s injuries were severe with broken ribs and facial damage. The Cone family residence was Northfield.
