Hopeful reports say the Thaw lunacy commission is hopelessly divided as Justice Fitzgerald adjourns the court after a tense morning. Dr Putzel and other experts conducted tests while Evelyn Nesbit watched from the gallery and Thaw faced a private exam revealing little abnormality.
Fitchburg Mass April 4 Edward J Sammon a Rutland resident appeared in court and pleaded guilty to adultery with Miss Wallace. Miss Wallace was fined 10 for pandering without license and 20 for fornication. Sammon was held in $500 bond for the May term as a witness in a divorce case against his wife Loulet M Sammon of Providence Rhode Island based on desertion.
The family of Hubert Bynnett will attend the funeral for John Hoar tomorrow at the house at 9:30 wearing gloves and badges.
Robson outpointed Abe Attell of San Francisco in a Si-Round National Athletic Club bout before a Dublin crowd. Trutland April 4 The state board of penal institutions appointed Tonegh M Borage a Massachusetts man to be superintendent of the Vermont industrial school at Vergennes He succeeds E L Ingalls who had headed the Vergennes institution for five years He has previously led the Stet non home for boys at Barre Mass and was connected with the Kurn Hattin home Westminster His resignation is not explained but he is believed to have received other offers
The Montpelier Seminary trustees re elected E A as principal for a fourth year and plan to hire an athletic coach who can lead all branches of athletics. Dr Bishop is authorized to travel to raise endowment, aiming to secure about 150000. Pearson of Chicago has pledged 75000 plus other promises.
A short strike at a St Johnsbury granite plant led by granite dealer Walker over pay. About 20 men were affected until two asked for $4 per day. after union mediation the workers returned to work and the dispute was settled with most men resuming duties, aside from one man who refused old wages.
Montpelier April 4 The graduate class prepares for exercises at the opera house with music by the school. Valedictorian Morence Wheelock and salutatorian candidates Ruth Templeton and Laurette Goffin are named, with twelve graduates expected.

A Montpelier and Wells River railroad brakeman, known as Felt or Kid, was buried up to the neck in coal at a Barre railroad switchback after a coal pile loosened by warm weather collapsed. John Ross a quarryman died at his home in Williamstown after eight days of illness from pneumonia. He left a widow and five children, the eldest age 15. He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters. Funeral from St Sylvester's church Friday at nine, burial in Catholic cemetery in this city.
The Vermont state board of pharmacy held a two day examination for registration as pharmacists beginning yesterday in Montpelier at the House. Four examiners including W. Root of Brattleboro and W. Warner of Vergennes presided over the 16 applicants as they faced questions on various subjects. Some had previously failed parts and will retake specific topics. Results will not be announced for several days.
The Timer reports confusion over bond requirements for licenses. Commissioners interpret the law to need two sureties totaling at least 8,000 dollars. Mrs W A Font died yesterday at 15 years of age after heart failure. Funeral will be held tomorrow at the home of Mr and Mrs Bendict in Braedenvll with services from the barn tomorrow afternoon at Cam polock. The deceased had brief life with family and friends.
