Governor Plaisted urged the Legislature to probe alleged bribery by Sheriff Charles O. Kimery of York County after a County Attorney Richardson report. The message urged removal if true, and directed the attorney general to appear before the session to represent the state.
Milaville April 2. A secret attempt to capture Adina Allen and Wesley Kilwardeith is reported as bloodhounds trail the fugitives toward two food supply bases about 7 miles apart. Detectives surge as Gray and Melraw confirm sighting near Fancy Cup, with Hubludeter kin tied to Allen kin and Easter family under surveillance. Bloodhounds used mirror Beattie case methods as authorities pursue the escapees.
A bursting rifle caused the death of Corporal William W. Lee, coast artillery, this morning as the squad sounded reveille. A widow and two week old daughter survive.

Bradford April 2 Major Harry Chamberlin died at Fort Bayard New Mexico on Saturday. Burial is in Bradford but funeral arrangements are indefinite awaiting arrival of the body possibly next Monday. Chamberlin, 49, born in Newbury, married to Katherine Gilmore, served in both volunteer and regular forces. He advanced from quartermaster sergeant to captain and quartermaster, later becoming major. Last July he went to the Philippines, fell ill en route with hemorrhages, treated in Manila, then San Francisco, then New Mexico where he died.
Senator Dixon, head of the Roosevelt national committee, travels from New York to Vermont and Lexi ngton to claim the state for Roosevelt. He vows no political burglary and insists Roosevelt will win contested southern and northern delegations, with major support from the national committee. Dixon outlines Roosevelts planned campaign stops from Louisville to Pittsburgh and Philadelphia, stressing disciplined, vigorous speeches.
Parts of the Baldwin estate near Los Angeles are set to receive over ten million dollars from a total value exceeding twenty million. Chief witness Ren Wo Anzie testified about the instrument allegedly signifying a will and the events surrounding Mr Olds life.
City Clerk James Mackay extends dog license permits for Barre residents for twelve more months at minimum cost. Licensed counts rose from 382 in April to 400 by May as owners paid double tax. If licenses rise with population, more than 100 additional dogs may be licensed this year, with penalties and derelict-dog enforcement starting after May 15.
Edward Ackerman aged 42 shot and killed his wife Mer at her parents home near Roxbury then killed himself. The couple, divorced or separated for over a month, had conflicts over reconciliation. Mer Ackerman refused a walk request, prompting a fatal shooting with two young children present.
