The older girl had lived with her grandfather until she ran away and a guardian was appointed. the younger lived with her aunt Mary Ballou who was arrested but released on promise of care. Both girls remain in Brattleboro under guardianship.

Adjutant General W H Gilmore in Montpelier said the Vermont National Guard will march in the tercentenary celebration at Kesex Junction late June. Invitations include a possible trip to Gettysburg and a calendar line for Lake Champlain plaza events but transport issues hinder acceptance. The regiment’s showing at the recent annual inspection pleased Gilmore.
The funeral of Mrs Elizabeth Bowen Owen was held at two o clock yesterday afternoon from the late residence. Interment followed at Hope Cemetery. A large array of floral tributes from family friends church and business associates accompanied the service.
