Angry Elephant Crashes Rigs at Ringling Circus Pen
Charles Hampton, 22, an attendant, was maul ed by a raging bull elephant at Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey headquarters in Bridgeport Connecticut. He suffered multiple rib fractures a deep forehead laceration and possible internal injuries after being pinned between two elephants and beaten against a brick wall before keepers freed him. The Barnum home base at Baraboo was cited as his family origin.

On Armistice Day five trees were planted on Baraboo High School terrace to honor local World War I veterans. Five students and five American Legion members assisted, with the program featuring hymns and a prayer led by Rev. E. C. Henke. James Madison Stoner, claimed as the first white male child born in present Madison, died Armistice Day morning at the Dane County Poor Farm in Verona at age 84. He was son of John and Mrs. Stoner, settlers who arrived Sept 6, 1837, with family ties to early Dane County figures and the university. Wisconsina Victoria Pekk Hawley, his sister, lives in Delton in frail health.

Mrs Christana Brownrigg Rites Noted in Okee
Mrs Christana Brownrigg age 84 longtime Okee resident died after fifty three years in the community. She leaves five daughters and three sons including Mrs Edwin Summers Clark S D and J W Brownrigg Merrimack. Four sisters survive and she was born in Scotland in 1837 arriving with her parents. Her husband John Brownrigg died in 1893.

George Claridge of Spring Green aged eighty this month has been visiting at Reedsburg. His son in law Weston brought him to Excelsior then to Reedsburg to see cousin Thomas Claridge Sr. He served in the Civil War's invalid corps and stood guard over Lincoln's body. photographed in the suit and with the gun used that day. John Claridge drove him as far as Madison on his return.

The G A R W R Corps and Sons of Veterans met at the K P hall for Veteran's night with more than 150 attendees.
