Reedsburg Deacon Norman Woodworth Dies in River Tragedy

Norman Woodworth a Reedsburg deacon and Presbyterian Sunday school secretary died by his own action Sunday near the river after leaving church. He leaves his wife and his elderly mother, a brother Ernest of Wonewoc, and had worked nineteen years at the Reedsburg daylight store. The body was recovered and prepared for burial.

J. C. Mutch newly hired Baraboo high school teacher married Blanche Douty in Oshkosh where the bride taught. The couple will return to Baraboo by car and reside at Mrs. J. E. English’s home. Mrs. English plans a winter in the east.

Divorces Granted In Circuit Court For Wonewoc Residents

Julia Bieber and Rudolph Bieber of Wonewoc were divorced on desertion with custody awarded to the mother. no alimony or property. Maude Luke and Frank Luke of Wonewoc divorced with custody to the mother and child support of four dollars monthly. A third case, Elva Schultz and Herman Schultz, centered on custody of the child now with grandparents. the mother has remarried and the court will decide after proper service. Witnesses included Elva Klitzke and Herman Schultz, among others. An unrelated title dispute, W H Vady v William Dano, was granted.

Portage Brewery Property Sold in Sheriff Foreclosure

The Epstein property in Portage was sold Friday at sheriff's foreclosure by Sheriff F. L. Schultz for City Bank. Bids on parcel assignments exceeded the group sale. the property sold in parcels and as a whole. Robert Nehrlich bought the large brick residence at Jefferson and Cook for 3800 dollars. William Epstein acquired the brewery complex for 2000, the bottling house and rear barn for 1000, and the vacant lot for 375. Parcel bids totaled 7175 dollars, higher than the whole-property bid of 6000.
