Accident Report in Devils Lake Causes Death of Louis Kaufman
Louis Kaufman aged 53 was found mangled between rails near the Kirkland depot at Devils Lake at daybreak. The death is believed due to an extra passenger train last night around 10 o clock, his watch stopping at that time supporting the theory. Kaufman and A Wolkowski were together at Devils Lake the previous afternoon, and Kaufman disappeared after dark while Wolkowski returned to Baraboo unaware of the tragedy. Funeral plans set for tomorrow at 2 PM at his brother Chris Kaufman’s Lake Street home.

Patriotic exercises honored Memorial Day in city schools with G A R and W A C members, including Captain J P Drew at the high school. Veterans P P Palmer James Farnsworth Isaac Fort and C Cary spoke at the annex, as did ward school speakers. Students will be dismissed early next Wednesday for W R C bouquet making. Flowers to be left at the W R C. The school program was arranged by Mrs Belle Wood and B N Robinson.

Death of Rev and Mrs Jones’s son in Baraboo
The twelve year old son of Rev. and Mrs Warren G Jones died after a brief illness. Rev Jones formerly served at the South Side M K Church in Baraboo. Interment will be in Baraboo with a short cemetery service after the body arrives Sunday afternoon.

Strange Actions Puzzle Officers In Baraboo
Officer Desmond alerted Commissioner Griggs that a man claiming to be deaf and insane was taken to the southside station. A physician labeled him insane, a local collection raised about $2, and he said he would board train 511 at midnight. He was later arrested after officers followed him along the railroad track and taken to the county jail for investigation. Griggs suspects the man may have been in Madison before Baraboo.

Death of Herman Lueck in Sauk County Baraboo
Herman Lueck died Friday evening at Sauk county hospital in Reedsburg after years with locomotor ataxia. Born in Germany 89 years ago, he came to Sauk county in 1886, lived in Merrimack and Baraboo, and formerly worked as a Northwestern brakeman. He leaves two sons, a daughter, two sisters, one brother, and his aging mother in Merrimack. his wife Mrs Herman Lueck died in January.

Unusual Escape Of Infant From Safety Pin Swallowing
The Milwaukee infant of Mr and Mrs Russell L Smith swallowed an open safety pin after it was dropped during dressing. X rays showed the pin lodged above the breast bone. after anaesthetic probing failed, the pin moved and passed through the digestive tract without harm. Doctors deem the outcome miraculous.
