Very Little Insurance After Kerosene Fire Destroys Home

Fire destroyed the Sansum home after Mrs. Sansum poured kerosene into a stove causing a blaze fanned by a southwest wind. A boy and girl were rescued with a few furnishings. organ, beds, clothing, stoves and carpets all burned. Relics and coins suffered. insurance was only 500 dollars. Three unpaired shoes were saved.

Knights of Columbus Wisconsin Hold Eleventh State Meeting

The Wisconsin Knights of Columbus closed their eleventh annual council at Green Bay with a social and smoker. They allocated 1000 to St Paul Catholic chapel Madison and 500 to support a chaplain at Waukesha boys’ industrial school. Delegates named include John F Martin Green Bay John F Doherty La Crosse and Thomas Cleary Plattville. KF D Kelley Manitowoc elected deputy supreme knight with others chosen as officers and delegates for the national convention.

Choir Sings At Sauk City Church Social Event

The Reformed church ladies aid society hosted a social at Woodman hall Sauk City on Tuesday. A large crowd from the twin cities and nearby areas attended. The evening featured a fine musical program performed by the church choir.

Spring Green Mourns Honored Citizen William Reely

William Reely, an octogenarian and longtime Spring Green resident, died at his home after months of illness. Born August 10, 1828 in Kent England, he emigrated to the United States at eighteen and settled in Spring Green in 1849, leaving a legacy of integrity and kindness.

Hay Shortage Stiffens Prices Across Wisconsin

Merrimack Woman Dies After Operation at General Hospital

Mrs. David J. Marshall of Merrimack died Friday night at the general hospital in Madison following an operation. She was about 84, survived by her husband, parents, Mr and Mrs John Steele of Caledonia, and a sister Mrs William Marshall. She had narrowly escaped death years earlier when struck by a passenger train at the depot platform.

Old Resident Frank Hill Dies at 73 in Kilbourn

Frank Hill an longtime Kilbourn resident died this morning at 4 o clock at age 73 after suffering a stroke. He leaves a son and a brother in Iowa while his wife and daughter are deceased. He had lived in Kilbourn most of his life and traveled after his wife’s death.

Motorboat to Serve Ringlings in Florida and Gulf

The Matthews Boat Company of Port Clinton Ohio is building a 50 foot seaworthy motor boat for Mr and Mrs Charles E Ringling of Baraboo Wisconsin. The boat is for use in Sarasota Bay Florida and short trips on the Gulf and will launch in August. It features ample outside space and a cabin seating eight. The Ringlings recently completed a ten room house on Sarasota Bay with modern conveniences and three bathrooms. The Florida home is near the New York Ringlings’ Florida property.

Belle Wood Receives Letter From Son Percy in California

Percy H. Wood, with wife in Los Angeles, reports securing a fine position with the Salt Lake railroad and living at Ocean Park twenty miles from Los Angeles. He notes twenty Shriners floats in an electrical parade costing a thousand dollars each, and describes a parachute descent from 2,600 feet with a slight injury to one flyer on wires.

Drank Booze and Near Drowning

Rudolph Schram, about 65, drank after saloon hours then entered the river on a late night break. Passengers on a bridge heard cries and found him clinging to timber in the mill race. He was rescued, taken to the county jail, and resting in bed today.

Died While a Guest of Cascade Family

Mrs. Samuel Ganfield of Cascade Iowa died suddenly Wednesday morning while visiting her son-in-law and daughter Rev and Mrs Peter Bock of Prairie du Lac. Diabetes was the cause. She was 62. Remains were taken to her Iowa home for interment.
