Fire damages Mueller garage with heavy loss
Fire swept the Mueller garage early Friday, badly damaging the eastern side, destroying car tops and upholstery, and scorching the armory. University grad Marguerite Hanley buried in Portage
Miss Marguerite Catherine Hanley chemist and UW and Marquette graduate buried at Portage St Marys church with Rev Father McBride officiating. She died after months of illness in a Minneapolis hospital following several operations. Hanley was first woman chair of the AA C women’s section and held lab work in Chicago and Bristol Pa. at death she was an inspector in a Minneapolis Pittsburg company. Lime Ridge Resident Injured In Farmhouse Explosion
Friday evening Mrs. Blackman, wife of Elder L. W. Blackman of Lime Ridge, gathered wood for the stove when a sudden explosion shattered the stove and walls. Mrs. Blackman suffered severe facial injuries as eighty chunks of wood and iron were removed by the attending physician.
Baraboo Girl Wins Honors at Carroll College Recital
Miss Leora Gollmar of Baraboo, daughter of Mr and Mrs B F Gollmar, will graduate from Carroll College in June. She gave an interpretative recital of The Man of the Hour to a packed auditorium, praised by the Waukesha Daily Freeman for portraying eleven characters with ease and verve. Her sister Viola and Ruth Jones attended.
