Pioneer marks another birthday for H C Noyes
H C Noyes of 1112 West Washington Avenue celebrated his seventy sixth birthday on Tuesday with a small gathering at his home. Born in Chelsea Wisconsin in 1844 he joined the Seventh Wisconsin regiment in the Civil War and saw action at Kenesaw Mountain and the Atlantic campaign. He later served as assistant postmaster at Baraboo and was city treasurer for two terms. He and his wife moved to Madison in 1900 and have resided there since. A number of friends attended the celebration including Rev E Horth and Rev W J McKay along with several local couples.

Baraboo Resident in Kansas Railroad Wreck
E V Hocum from Baraboo was in a wreck at Willis Kansas when a Missouri Pacific freight train derailed as it passed the depot. An oil car exploded killing one worker and injuring two others. Hocum’s wagon was wrecked but not derailed and he was saved. He was en route to Paoli Kansas to join the Patterson carnival. Mrs Hocum’s letter said he had not yet arrived by Wednesday due to the delay.
