Baraboo Faces Severe Ice Storm Disrupting City Services
The Baraboo area endured a severe ice storm Tuesday into Thursday, knocking out power and gas, bringing down trees and telephone poles, delaying trains, and flooding some cellars. Crews from the Wisconsin Power Light & Heat company and local workers cleared debris while telegraph and telephone lines suffered widespread damage. The Baraboo Daily News outage halted printing, with neighbor papers filling the edition. Baraboo River rose near song, and Kilbourn Portage roads were blocked by fallen branches.

New Hardware Store Planned Open About April First
The Marriott Hardware Company is formed with 25000 capital stock. On March 1 it will take over the Marriott Hardware building at 127 Third Street, previously Lettergren Hardware, and begin extensive remodeling. A copper front, steel ceiling, lowered cellar, new concrete floor, rear balcony office and rest rooms, and interior refinishing are planned. New Centar Store Lighting fixtures will be installed. The firm aims to open about April 1 with new stock and fixtures, promising one of the largest hardware inventories in Sauk County.

Loss Adjustment In Fire At Yellow Front
A Western Adjustment Company representative fixed the loss at 6500 for goods and fixtures damaged in the December 28 1921 Yellow Front fire. Fire Chief W J Power was informed. Total insurance carried was 8000 distributed among three agents and companies.

Grace Dillingham, a former Baraboo resident and Korea missionary, writes from Yueng Yang March 21 1921 about prison visits for teachers and church workers, torture and imprisonment in Korea, and her Methodist Girls Boarding School. The letter describes students earning tuition, dormitory crowding, daily prayers, and a kindergarten full of nearly 100 children.
