Skillet Creek Farm club dedicates service flag for war unity
On June 7 the Skillet Creek Farmers' club gathered at Mrs. Fanny Hill's home to dedicate a service flag with the twelve stars. Wilbur Cahoon unfurled the banner and A list of local servicemen in France, the Navy, and aviation roles was read, praising their contributions and duty. The event featured patriotic songs by the young chorus and a Red Cross display, with plans discussed for a July Fourth picnic at Pewitt's Nest and an address by G W Davies on the war emergency fund.

Landmark at Reedsburg Gone
A large tree east of Harper's photograph gallery in Reedsburg has been cut down. It took several days to remove due to its size, with a four foot diameter base indicating a long stand. Mr Harper had it removed for safety, fearing it could topple onto his house or the gallery. The tree was a beloved street landmark to locals.

Boy George Henkel Makes Long Bicycle Ride
Thirteen year old George Henkel of Camp Douglas bikes to Reedsburg to visit friends. He left at 5 AM and arrived just after 3 PM, enjoyed the trip despite losing his way. The journey marked a brisk, healthful alternative to an auto ride.

Nephew of Mrs Whipple Killed in Action Overseas
Mrs H A Whipple of 625 Mendota court Madison learned Friday that her nephew Jackson Humphrey was killed in action May 21. He was 19 and the first Waterloo man to reach France with a North Dakota regiment. His brother, Lieutenant Kenneth B Humphrey, in the aviation corps radio section, is stationed near Paris. The Whipples previously lived in Baraboo where Mr Whipple was superintendent of schools.

Train Crushes Strangers Feet at Baraboo Station
Charles Beers, 65, attempted to board a moving freight train between the station and the crossing. The wheels crushed the toes of both feet. he was taken to Baraboo hospital where the toes were amputated. He will be crippled for life and has no relatives.
