The tenth Sauk County Country Life picnic drew farmers, merchants, and families to Devil's Lake State Park with speeches by Earl F. Thomas and Secretary of State Merlin Hull. Baraboo defeated Waunakee in a baseball game as crowds enjoyed music, speeches, and park amenities.

Hearing Held at Courthouse on Railroad Rate Case
At the courthouse Wednesday the Railroad Rate commission held a hearing for Fred Jolitz of Abelman and John Victor Johnson of Baraboo. Jolitz suffered a right arm injury from an explosion at White Rock quarry and Johnson from a Cahoon mine accident on March 21 1919 leaving one leg partially disabled and one arm seriously harmed. Wages have been paid but final settlement awaits commission findings.

Man Killed by Train Near North Freedom
A man about 25 years old, dressed as a laborer, was struck and killed by the 2:00 a.m. train just outside North Freedom Wednesday night. Engineers saw him step from the vacant track. his name and residence remain unknown. The body was taken to Oehlers & Howland undertaking room in Reedsburg.

Reedburg Lad Buried Honors Private Paul Wagner
Funeral services were held in Reedsburg for Private Paul Wagner whose remains arrived from overseas. Born July 20 1886 in Milwaukee he joined the army in July 1918 and died October 8 1918 of influenza. Survived by parents seven brothers two sisters and many relatives. Six uniformed comrades carried his casket at St Johns Lutheran Church and Cemetery.

Heroic Martin aids Cranford Scouts in I Beach tragedy
Rev Kenneth D Martin rector of Trinity Episcopal in Cranford near Baraboo was praised for heroism after diving to rescue two Cranford Boy Scouts at Weerapang Beach Rhode Island. He was pulled from the water and revived after sharing in the search when coast guard crews recovered William Klein Jr and Edwin Lewis. Both families expressed gratitude as the community mourns.
