Portage readers learn that Caledonia property owners may appeal appraisers’ value in circuit court over land for the Southern Wisconsin Power Company line. Engineer G A Neff says appeals won’t halt work as 104 of 200 towers already rise, with 50 foot cross arms and steel construction. He notes possible electricity to farms and branches, and a power line to Baraboo and iron mines is under serious consideration. Completion hinges on high water and dam work at Prairie du Lac.
The Golden jubilee anniversary of the Knights of Pythias was celebrated Thursday at Castelal with about 225 attendees. A program included music by Misses Layde Creek Gutten and Kraasensetter, piano by Brierenge Pat wei, an address by Attorney F. R. Bentley, and greetings from local officials.
