A Wilk woman identifies the mound location of her missing husband W D Magic reported missing since September 24. Location remains unknown as authorities search nearby areas.
Mrs. W D Magli of White Mound seeks information on her husband Mr Magli who left White Mound on September 24 to visit relatives about twenty miles away. He was once postmaster and ran a general store, later treated at Mendota and released. Mrs Magli appeals for any sightings or address. He is well known in central county.
Miss Fern Halbman of Merrimack wrote the song later set to music by Professor Witz of Madison and sung at a George Washington celebration. The verse extols Baraboo High School with lines praising its honor, fame, and lingering pride of students away from home.
Jack Hughes drove a husky dog team from Chipewyan to Baraboo and will walk the remaining distance to Chicago due to poor sleighing. The wager requires him to reach the Chicago Tribune office before 12 midnight February 20. He left two dogs behind for sore feet and paused in Reedsburg.
Wednesday evening at eight o clock Ralph S Ableman and Carrie M Dudley quietly married at Rev E O Coontzs home witnessed by close relatives. The bride wore light blue silk chiffon. The groom works at H H Taylor Book Store and the bride is a telephone operator. They left for a short wedding trip and will reside on East Street.
A bill before the Wisconsin legislature proposes raising passenger rates to 24 cents per mile. Resolutions backing the measure are signed by E. T. Potter P. C. Eldridge and E. Nash and accompany the bill.
Carl Sanger sold his 160 acre Greenfield farm to Harvey Ott for 8000 dollars and bought the 160 acre John Anderson farm in Arlington for 14000 dollars. He moved belongings via Caledonia and the Wisconsin River ice to the Anderson farm. Ott has since moved onto the Sanger farm in Greenfield. Saager reports German relatives near the Russian border hear of recent fighting and four weeks for letters to arrive.
The Seventeenth Judicial circuit field includes four announced candidates. Incumbent Judge O'Neil Atty C A Veeder Dist Atty Clinton G Price of Manston and Attorney E W Crosby of Neilsville seek the bench Crosby also represents Clark county in the assembly. The Sparta Herald notes the campaign is friendly and free of mudslinging.
The Twentieth Century club met yesterday afternoon at Mrs. Groth's home on Fourth Street. They resumed Disraeli by Louisa M. Parker and after business will host Mrs. Davis of La Crosse on Feb 23 as district federation vice president. A luncheon at Mrs. C. Dyke's on Third Street is planned at noon, followed by the regular program.
A licensed marriage is recorded for Everett E. Vreeland and Delton Alvina J. Krueger with the license issued in the local jurisdiction. Dellona is listed among participants or witnesses in the filing.
At the Fortnightly Literary club Rev. B E Ray discussed how progress brings costs to civilization. He noted losses of sentiment, fashion hassles, and new discontents, including nervousness and social ills. The meeting praised the paper and planned a future talk by Judge James O Neil.
Madison Democrat notes North Freedom farmer banker Robt B Dickie as a Republican state assembly candidate from Sauk County. The article highlights his push for home rule and local control, education interests, prior service on the Sauk County board, and tenure as Bank of North Freedom president. Dickie, born in Sauk County, is married with four children and a North Freedom home.

The commission held that Salem must compensate for the death of Voege. Deputy remarks supported the ruling and assigned liability to Salem for the incident and related costs.
Wisconsin Industrial Commission awarded Mrs. William Veeck, widow of a West Salem plumber killed while aiding a deputy marshal in subduing Walter Jones, a $3000 death benefit. The ruling cites the compensation act covering policemen and peace officers and places Veeck temporarily in municipal employ at the time of death. The case details the deputy sheriff’s warrant service and the marshal’s involvement. The shooter, once a North Freedom resident, was killed later.
The Sauk County Bar association passed resolutions endorsing Judge James O Neill of Neillsville for re election in his district. Neillsville is outside his district but he often holds court in Baraboo and is widely admired in Sauk County with strong local support expected on election day.
The infant daughter of Mrs. Happe of Marshfield Wisconsin is visiting at the home of Rev and Mrs Happe and is suffering with a touch of pneumonia. The ladies are sisters.
