Remarkable Indian hostage tale and children saved
An 1825 Oregon War case details Harvey and Eliza Jones attacked by around a dozen hostiles at White River Washington Territory. Mrs Jones fights, is wounded, son John King and siblings escape, reach Seattle aided by friendly Indian and the Decatur crew. They later reunite with relatives in Wisconsin. appeal for aid to care for the surviving children and education. The account includes broader Kansas events and calls for support for Free State settlers.
