Great Medicine Pill Ad Promises Health and Beauty
An early 19th century patent medicine advertisement touts a universal cure named Great Medicine. It claims to cleanse complexion, aid digestion, ease coughs and fevers, and treat liver and kidney issues. The copy touts indigenous origins and lists distributors in New York and across several towns, urging readers to buy boxed bottles with signatures of the makers.
