Movements to dissolve the Union stir Mobile politics

A Mercury report from Mobile argues for forming a new Southerly political movement ignoring old party labels. The piece references contemporary national debates on slavery and states’ rights, predicts looming political realignment, and notes public calls for unity to support an imminent, broad political overhaul.
