John Young Pioneer Citizen Dies in Baraboo
John Young long time Sauk County resident and former sheriff dies suddenly while visiting Baraboo. He served as town chairman, engaged in education, and remained a steadfast Republican. Survived by four children and two sisters, funeral set for Saturday at 1 30 PM at First M E Church.

Mr. Young, aged almost 90, died of heart failure after a sudden collapse while with local residents and Dr. English. Born July 22, 1826 in Ohio, he moved to Sauk County Wisconsin with Amanda Day in 1852, endured pioneer life, and served in the state legislature. His widow inherits a community memory of a life marked by integrity and public service.

Betsy Chapman Dies at Baraboo After Long Life
Mrs Betsy Chapman born Vermont December 26 1820 died at her Baraboo home October 30 1905 after long illness. She married in 1840 in New York and moved to Baraboo in 1867. She joined the Advent Christian church in New York and remained steadfast in faith. Survived by two daughters Eliza Scott and Millie Barstow and a sister Mary Crandall. Funeral held at the house conducted by Eld B Forester of the Advent Christian Church.

Halloween Society Plugs Evening Parties At Two Homes
Attorney and Mrs H H Thomas welcomed sixty eight guests to their Second avenue residence for a Halloween event with jack o lanterns and sprightly decor. Prizes went to Mrs H Grotophorst and Mrs M A Warren and to Messrs W E Morse and J Van Orden. Earlier Miss Mayme Burke hosted about twenty young ladies on Park Street for costume revelry with Edna Francisco winning best character costume The Witch of Endor. Midnight departures marked a lively celebration by Miss Burke as gracious hostess.

Sacred Ox Fights Harrison Junior in Narrow Escape
Harrison Case Jr narrowly avoided serious injury when a Ringling Bros sacred ox escaped its pen near Lynn Avenue. The bull charged his wagon twice, tossed boards and a coat, and finally was captured with a ring through its nose by Harrison and his father after a brief, cold struggle. They secured the animal and returned it to winter quarters at the Ringling barns.
