A Wednesday afternoon fire near three o'clock damaged the Y M C A structure as flames from a blow lamp ignited material beneath the south roof. Firemen quickly fought the blaze, rain no, the building suffered heavy loss, insured for 2000 dollars. The 1890 era building cost about 15000 dollars.
W. McFarland and Carl Isen adjusted the YMCA loss to 300 dollars. The association’s board will decide whether to accept the amount.
The Baraboo examining board led by Oscar Doppler lists scores for local carriers. Cary E. Wilby 82.35, Sman W. Porter 82.30, Said E. Owen 70.40, M Palmer 78.? Hill 76.25, Karl V. Shue 76.70, Jorge G. Schorer 75.90, with standings valid for one year.
Miss Mollie Peterson and Mr Theodore Anderson of New Mt wed in a Wednesday ceremony at a Lutheran church in Greenfield. Rose Koerth married Bert Johnson with a reception at the bride’s home. Dancing and gifts followed as relatives from 89 & Northwestern gathered on South Street in the recently vacated synod hall.
Funeral services for the late Mrs. Clavadatscher were held at the First street home yesterday afternoon with Rev. Meck of the German M E church officiating. Interment followed at Baraboo cemetery. Pallbearers were J R Hoffstatter Bert Cramer H A Fisher Charles Dehyll C Berry and Otto Hornung. A large display of flowers accompanied the rites and many friends and relatives from Baraboo and nearby towns attended including Portage Prairie du Lac Witwen Chicago Sauk City Elroy and numerous Clavadatscher family members.
Birth notices report a son born to Mr. and Mrs. James McGinnis on May 2 and a daughter born to Mr. and Mrs. Carl Bunse of Greenfield on May ı. A son was also born this week to Mr. and Mrs. Herman Weinke.

Louis Armstrong, a former Northwestern extra brakeman from Baraboo, was struck by a switch engine beside the Northwestern depot in Madison at 12 07 am. He had both feet amputated and was rushed to the general hospital in the capital city.
Baraboo hosts a Madison division tribute to former superintendent R A Cowan with a banquet and speeches by railway officials and shop and field staff. The celebration marks forty years of service from 1863, culminating in Cowan’s retirement Feb 1, 1905, and includes a banquet menu, toasts, and an album of active workers’ names.
Last evening the twelfth anniversary of Mr and Mrs H D School and the eleventh anniversary of Mr and Mrs J W Layden were celebrated at First street home. Guests from Madison and Baraboo included Mrs O K Schubert Mrs W H Mueller and families with Paul Mueller Adelaide Wilke and Henderson Isenberg and Dilienbeck couples.
May 4 report from Rock Wisconsin says W B Genge’s flour mill was wrecked when the boiler exploded. A large steel piece struck a grain bag carried by Harry Loomis, sparing his life, another piece narrowly missed Mrs Genge. Loss estimated at 300 dollars.
Former Janesville foreman Thomas Erickson moves to Ashland to head the locomotive department of the Ashland division. He previously served as foreman at Baraboo. New general foreman Mr. Zickler, formerly of the Chicago avenue round house, arrived in Janesville today.
The Northwestern railroad company now reweighs all cars to better weigh carload shipments. Assistant Superintendent F D Pendle oversees the process, noting shrinkage in wood, wear in metal, and weight losses from a few pounds to a ton per car over time.
Conductor I J Laird alters his route plan and transfers from Eiroy to Baraboo, effective immediately. The move adjusts travel assignments for the railroad roster and possibly commuting times for local riders.
Conductor F O Lester moves to Madison this week due to a change in his assigned run. The Lester family formerly resided in Madison several years ago.
Word from LaCrosse reports brakeman Joe Matts not improving after a recent accident. He suffered the loss of both feet a short time ago.
Engineer Al Britton suffers a serious ankle injury on his return trip from Harvard last night.
Brakeman Reintelt, who had his foot crushed at Waukesha about two months ago, is at home from the hospital.
The North Western road announces a reduced timetable starting today. The eastbound trip will depart San Francisco at 10:00 a.m. and arrive at 5:50 p.m., shortening travel time by one hour. Westbound reductions apply similarly.
