The seven month old son of Mr and Mrs Albert Puttkammer died Friday from lung congestion. The funeral will be Monday.
The quarterly meeting will start Tuesday March 12 at the A C church with a preaching service on Saturday at 2 30. A business session will be held. All members are urged to attend with preaching Saturday evening at 7 30 and Sunday morning and evening. Cordial invitation extended to all.
J Briggs & Co Baraboo Wis offer fresh seed for garden field and flowers with customer testimony. A card notes G A Van Pelt leaves Ft Smith Ark March 10 and arrives Baraboo March 20. C F Bayless and son Dennis Bayless buy Henry Pigg 80 acre Merrimack farm near their home. Pigg family former residents.
Martha Irish Karnopp writes from Almond Wisconsin on March 3 1909 correcting errors in a Baraboo report about her February 16 Newfoundland and Labrador talk. She distinguishes fishermen from merchants noting fishermen are honorable though less Christian in social service. She clarifies education as parochial not private and names the Royal National Mission to Deep Sea Fishermen and the Congregational Ladies Missionary Club as contributors to the Fisherman Institute at St Johns.
Fine Inventions, C. V. Waddell of Madison visited Baraboo representing Wisconsin Stamped Steel. The firm offers automatic wrenches and a patent Kurnbasket Burnbasket to burn waste paper safely. Wrenches sold through Letter gren and Pittman. A sample basket is shown at this office. Mr. Waddell formerly resided at Baraboo.
Sophia Meyers reports her dog was shot by Ward Shepard during neighborhood explorations. About a hundred Lyons villagers expected as witnesses. The dog’s fondness for raw eggs is blamed for the fatal incident.
Two workers on the Merrimack bridge fell into the Wisconsin River last Saturday while at their post. The first man misjudged depth and screamed as he touched the icy water. his companion jumped in to help. They both made it to bottom safely and were rescued. Both men expressed strong aversion to cold water.
Mrs. Charles King of Altoona and Mrs. Dennie Hayes of Madison visit their mother Mrs. Sehab. Mrs. King says her brother C. Schab, once successful in the local shoe trade, plans to come back to Wisconsin from the west as soon as he can sell out.
A five member jury was chosen to determine damages after the Delton town board laid out a highway. Judge W T Kelsey supervised the selection from larger pools, with prior rounds producing alternates and held votes. The dispute centers on whether the board’s damage award is too high. The meeting time remains undisclosed.
John Griffin alias Darth Griffin was brought before Justice H. L. Halsted and released after the charge of robbing the Tschumpert home could not be proven. Mrs. Tschumpert failed to identify him in a doorway sighting, and a bracelet was missing. Griffin had been brought from Janesville several days prior.
Fire swept the J. N. Douglas store occupied by P. L. Barnes at 9:15 Sunday morning. Firefighters rescued most stock. building and some goods were ruined by fire or water. P. Alexander sprained an ankle and others were slightly injured. Building insured for 1500 dollars.
At a Reedsburg home on Sunday a family reunion honored Mrs. Helen Shepard of Burr Oak Kansas who is visiting. Her sister Mrs. A L Burnham of Baraboo joined the gathering alongside brothers E Perry of Reedsburg Israel Perry of La Valle Henry Perry of Reedsburg and Mrs. A Tracy of Iowa Falls Iowa. About 26 attendees included Mr and Mrs A H Adams and their grandson from Iowa Falls.

Edward F. Dithmar a non partisan candidate for Sauk County judge was born in Reedsburg January 31 1873. A UW graduate he served as Sauk County clerk of the circuit court from 1895 to 1901 and later practiced law with Dithmar Malone while also acting as county court commissioner. He chaired the Sauk County Republican committee last fall and cites German fluency as an asset for governing in a German speaking population.
A Reedsburg Times piece praises attorney E F Dithmar as a non partisan candidate for county judge. It notes his Sauk county ties, German language proficiency, early rise from clerk to lawyer, and three terms as circuit court clerk, arguing his background and record fit the position and would honor his career.
Mr and Mrs W H Aton report the arrival of a daughter at the home of Mr and Mrs Robert Aton Park Falls Wisconsin on Sunday.
A house owned by Mrs. Robert Schellenberger burned after a gasoline stove explosion this morning. She suffered facial and hand burns as firefighters faced hose failures and delayed alarms before the blaze was controlled. Special horse sale, Tuesday, Mar. 16.
Frank Nachreiner of Plain sues the Joseph Davis estate for 400 for board from Oct 1, 1906 to Mar 22, 1908. Case adjourned to the probate court's April term after Tuesday session. Attorneys include Grotophorst Evans & Thomas for plaintiff and King for the estate. Witnesses named for both sides.
