Fortnightly club hosts June banquet at Lake View Hotel
The Fortnightly club held its annual June banquet at the Lake View Hotel in Devil's Lake with about thirty-five attendees. Supt. Gehrand of Baraboo presided as toastmaster, delivering jokes as toasters and their subjects included Club History, The Wider View, Devil's Lake Our State Park, and Auf Wiedersehen. Return was by the midnight train.

First Church Bell and Independence Day in Baraboo 1852
In summer 1852 Baraboo Presbyterian society funded a fine church bell to ring on Independence Day June salute. A temporary vestry held as a frame near the church while Eld. Kasson and others oversaw the ceremony with drum and fife, salutes, flag raising, procession, speech by Nelson Wheeler, and communal feast.

Deaths in the Community Aged Women and a Teenager
Mrs Levi Cahoon aged 59 died at 331 Fifth avenue from paralysis. Survived by husband and five sons Wilbur Paul Soyer of Baraboo Orrie B of Madison Lee of Missoula Montana. Funeral at 1 pm tomorrow at the house with Rev Gilmore officiating and interment at Skillet Creek cemetery. Earlier, the funeral of the late Mrs Wheeler’s son occurred at the same residence. Mrs Roboda Hall aged 85 dies at home on Moore street. funeral Saturday at 10 am.
