John Ruhland of Plain sues Dr P H Fowler Dr Otto Sporleder and Joseph Nachreiner for alleged excess in embalming his daughter who died after being treated for what was said to be appendicitis. An infant girl was found on the porch of Mrs. Thomas Degan at 121 Ninth Avenue in the early hours. A note on the clothing said the mother is ill and intended to have it taken to Mrs. McEnany, asking baptism and care. Local police inquiry follows.

The infant, likely drugged to sleep, was taken indoors for protection against the cold, with footprints suggesting a female visitor and uncertainty about Degan’s residence. Mrs. Degan offered to care for the girl if parents remain unknown.
Miss Maggie Miller of Prairie du Sac and Fred Viney of Belleville were married Wednesday at 9 AM at the bride’s uncle and aunt’s Prairie du Sac home. Rev Carl Dohn of the Reformed church performed the ceremony. They will live on the Wm Knipschield farm in Merrimack town.
Rev S Knight of the Baptist church returned home from choir practice to a house full of friends who planned a surprise birthday. After the shock he joined a social evening with greetings and refreshments and received a monetary gift from attendees.
The 36th annual gathering of the Old Settlers association of Reedsburg and vicinity will convene at the Reedsburg Armory on Friday February 10 1911.
August Pratt of Baraboo has stored about 2500 cords of crystal ice from the Baraboo river for patrons. His storage fills homes more than usual, yielding 200 extra cards. Ice is kept for Baraboo customers and for the Chicago and Northwestern, which uses 800 to 1000 cards. Ice is loaded at Island mill and moved to the ice house near the shops. This is called the ice train.
W000 to Burn C F Cooley of Madison ships a large load of dry second growth oak wood to the capital city. The pile sits near the village station as car shortages hinder transport. Delivered price is 4.50 per cord plus 0.35 to place on cars. Charles Hein of Caledonia ships about 14 cords daily using four teams. Local Madison prices range from 8.00 to 10.00 per cord. Maven days of Merrimack brick making boosted deliveries in the past.
Announcement from Baraboo reports the marriage of Miss Elvina Avalon Schoenfelt to Mr. Earl T. Shepherd in Sheridan Oregon on Thursday January 12 1911. The bride is daughter of Henry F. and Mrs Schoenfelt of Baraboo and formerly lived on Third Street near Risley store. Baraboo friends extend congratulations.
Col. Nicholas Smith veteran writer and Civil War figure dies from injuries after December 18 fall near St James church in Milwaukee. Survived by wife two daughters and a son. Noted author of several historical volumes and former editor and newspaper executive with a public service record. Funeral Saturday.
Birtas born to Mr and Mrs Albert Dennis at Merrimack on Wednesday a daughter. Mr and Mrs G W Brunschweiler returned from Appleton where they were called by the illness and death of Mr Brunschweiler s mother. Deceased was 74 and had lived in Appleton 43 years. The funeral was held Monday.
Assistant Attorney General J. E. Messerschmidt and state park board members visited Devils Lake to appraise four parcels including property tied to Miss Carrie Martin of Virginia and the American Refractories company. The board will report soon. owners may appeal if dissatisfied, though appeals are rare.
Judge Stevens rules in favor of A F and H A Fisher against the First National Bank of Milwaukee. The decision involves lands sold by Northern Blue Grass Land company to local buyers including the Fishers and others who held land contracts though the company lacked title. Local attorney Daniel Ruggles represented the Fisher side amid counterarguments from Gucksman Gold Corrigan of Milwaukee. The Misses Raschein hosted a gathering at their Fifth Avenue home Wednesday evening.
