Rev. Goddard receives a threatening letter from saloon supporters warning him to stop opposing bars in Baraboo. The missive recalls Candalie and Kendall, urges the preacher to abandon the town, and references a past hanging example. Goddard plans to preach Sunday evening and awaits the saloon group’s reply.
P H Crossman shared a paper at the Fortnightly Club on his trip from Wisconsin to the southern end of Alabama. He discussed race relations cattle fever Tuskegee Institute and a town in Baldwin County named Faley describing the southern moonlight and community scenes during his visit in February 1909.
The High School basketball team fell 39 to 12 at Evansville High School last evening. The smaller floor without side lines confused the visitors, making Evansville dominant. A return game could test the impact of the Evansville court.
The Twentieth Century Club met Thursday with Mrs J B Donavan hosting. Mrs Lucy Case reviewed recent fiction including Anne of Green Gables Together The Eternal Boy Belladonna Half Way House The Two Brothers The Post Girl Margareta's Soul Susannah and Sue and Friendship Valley Stories.
Louis Schults and Claus Oehlers of Reedsburg appeared in Justice Halsteds court and changed their plea to nolo contendere for selling intoxicating liquor to William Dwars, a posted man. They denied knowledge of Dwars being posted but were found guilty and fined ten dollars plus costs totaling 27.87 dollars each.
George B. Gibbons born February 20 1825 in Kent England came to New York in 1831 and Wisconsin in 1845. He settled in Baraboo in 1851 married Mary Pointon in 1852 and has three sons and two daughters. He served in the 19th Wisconsin Infantry and later the 3rd U S Cavalry, was Sauk county coroner for eight years, and will celebrate his 58th wedding anniversary with a family gathering.
Miss Frances Fullmer married William Rick at 8 o'clock on Wednesday evening February 16 1910 at the home of Mr and Mrs Dan Fullmer. Rev J H Whitney officiated. Bride wore drab with sister Mina in blue. Best man Whitney Fullmer. They will reside on the John Quandt farm south of town and are highly regarded by the North Freedom community.

Edward Schroeder slipped on the icy city walk and broke bones in a limb while attempting to stay on the walk. Reedsburg crews spread sand to improve walk safety as the icy covering makes travel risky for residents like those in Baraboo who take to the road.
The Dowie summer home Ben Mac Dhui on White Lake Michigan is being converted into a dancing hall. Next summer cord parties and dancing will occur within the sacred precincts once tabooed during Elijah H. Dowie’s era. Mrs Jane Dowie, widow of the prophet, says she will make the plate financially productive.
Harry Justus died suddenly at his East Lynn street home from apoplexy. Born November 13 1859 he had been tending bar for Nick Strauss and was a charter member of the Eagles.
The Evening News proclaims growth and reader appeal for its daily edition. It invites Baraboo readers to subscribe by mail for 25 cents a month or by carrier at 10 cents a week or 40 cents a month.
Greenfield outlines prosperity and growth while urging county option on liquor licenses. The piece argues Baraboo's saloon taxes and licenses affect Greenfield residents and calls for a countywide vote to curb drinking establishments. Written by C. L. Pearson.

The second annual mid winter picnic drew about 112 people to the home of Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Thomas. Attendees from Baraboo Delton Greenfield and Fairfield as well as guests Mr. and Mrs. O. E. Hansen of North Dakota and Mr. and Mrs. G. Kidder of Minnesota enjoyed baskets and merry fellowship. The event proved a decided success in all respects.

Baraboo teachers extend condolences for the death of Miss Amelia Jones, praising her as a thorough, scientific and courageous teacher. The statement from M Mothersill, Miss Holm, Miss Ruggles, and committee expresses grief, respect, and support for her family and friends.
H R Chamberlain H H Stanley and Rev L A Goddard attended the funeral of Miss Amelia Jones held yesterday in Spring Green with services at the house at 1 and the church at 2. A bouquet of roses was sent by Baraboo teachers and other flowers were carried by three gentlemen.
Julius Vetter of Fairfield advertises 40 acre marsh grass for sale to boarders who abstain from meat. The note, signed Julius C. Vetter, promotes a plant product for non meat eaters.
