Mrs C H Davis hosted twenty four friends for a valentine card party with carnations and gilded monograms on score cards. Pedro games awarded prizes to Mrs Marcus J Simpson and Mrs McDermit with consolation to Mrs Tom Williams.
Hon and Mrs Frank Avery entertained a number of ladies and gentlemen at their Second Avenue home with dinner and a decorated table of scarlet carnations and vines. The hosts led a geography themed toast and anecdote, sparking wit and conversation among guests.

The Inter Se club gathered with Mrs. Id Battles on Tuesday afternoon despite freezing weather and strong turnout. Mrs Teel sang Sweet Oleander. Mrs J W Wright read a paper on The Serf. Mrs Battles presented The Reign of Alexander II as a powerful ruler. Mrs Briscoe closed with a piece on Grand Duke Vladimir marriage celebrations. The secretary notes the next meeting February 28 with Mrs J W Wright.
Hazel Vanderveer, daughter of Mr and Mrs N Vanderveer, died after a short pneumonia illness. She was about fifteen, born near Webster's Prairie and lived in Baraboo several years. Survived by parents two brothers and many Baraboo High School friends. Funeral Sunday at two in Trinity Episcopal Church with Rev Marcus Julius Simpson.
Mrs. Josephine Bailey aged 68 died yesterday afternoon at her Highth Avenue home from blood poisoning. Survived by her husband and two daughters Mrs. Jones and Mrs. Roberts. The Baileys moved from Cazenovia about a year ago. Funeral at the Catholic church Friday at 9 AM.
The funeral for Esther Van Loon Christie, born March 15 1834 near Syracuse New York and died February 15 1905 in Baraboo Wisconsin from cancer, was held at the family home on Sixth Avenue with interment in Baraboo cemetery. Out of town mourners included Dr and Mrs Prill of Sparta and Mrs Manning Van Alstine of Kilbourn. Christie survived by only one of seven children Eva Christie of Baraboo. sons John and Josiah were drowned years earlier. The service was led by Rev F E Ross of the First M E church.
Grace Butterfield von Wald born October 8 1881 in Baraboo lived most of her life there later in Reedsburg married A A von Wald November 16 1904 died January 31 1905 at her parents Baraboo home survived by husband and parents funeral at Presbyterian Church Baraboo conducted by Rev Mupneke and Rev White prayer and verse follow.
Mrs Margret Pilley of Seventh Avenue is reported ill with layrope, a condition implied by the notice, with details of residence and ailment.
George Cooper, about sixty five, died today repairing a malfunctioning feeder in the Ableman flour mill owned by Cooper and Gustave Scharnke. His clothes were torn from his body as the main shaft tore him in. an inquest was held this afternoon. Mayme Cooper, his daughter, and W Nehs, his brother in law, were present in Baraboo.

Yardmaster H D Potter has reported for work after a layoff. Conductor William Peck is off duty due to sickness. A rotary snow plow from the Minnesota Division arrives at the Madison Division to clear the line west of Madison. William Lane, off duty for illness, becomes extra conductor on an Elroy Janesville run.
Brakeman Emil Moog has been assigned to runs No 586 and 585 between Baraboo and Harvard. Train service west of Madison is practically tied up due to heavy snow drifts. Several engines with snow plows are stuck at different points.
M. H. Siegel is assigned to the fireman position on runs 510 and 507 between Baraboo and Chicago, serving with Engineer Wm. Clark.
J ONeil is assigned as fireman on the North end passenger run with Engineer E Sherman aboard the rail service.
John Boundy is assigned to the switch train as fireman alongside Engineer Foster, marking a crew reassignment on the line.
H S James is assigned as fireman on June 8 and 87 on Baraboo to Harvard runs with Engineer Palmer during Harvard layover. A W Merz is assigned as fireman on runs 506 and 503 between Baraboo and Chicago with Engineer Fellows.

The rotary snow plow sent from Madison stalled in snowdrifts on the Galena division and reached Dodgeville at noon. Northwestern road crews of about 200 men have labored between Madison and Lancaster since the storm, costing $1000 daily to clear the division. The 340 ton train pulls the eleven foot diameter plow that throws drifts up to fifty feet high, and it is the first train to reach Dodgeville since Monday.
