The 29th Hackett family reunion gathered over sixty members and visiting friends on Thanksgiving in North Freedom. Attendees from Money Creek Minnesota to Lake Geneva Wisconsin joined eight surviving relatives aged 66 to 80, sharing a dinner and a program of recitations songs and speeches. Officers elected for the year: President Joel Hackett Vice President S J Hackett Secretary and Historian George W Hackett.

This morning 8:00 at St. Joseph’s church Mrs. Margaret Hannon of this city wed Mr. James Wiley of Chicago. Rev. Durward officiated. James Terry and wife accompanied the couple to the altar. A breakfast followed for near relatives. The bride wore a blue traveling suit. they depart for Milwaukee and Chicago on a wedding tour and will reside on Third Street.

A Tribute to Calista Burnham’s Gentle Spirit
Calista E. Burnham died in the early morning of October 26 after years of illness. She remained cheerful and selfless, planning kindnesses for others and helping in church choirs. Her memory lives in the hearts of her mother, sister, friends, and many who were touched by her songs and deeds. Miss Gladys Apker, a high school student, returned home in La Valle for Thanksgiving.

Forepaugh Circus Returns After Long Road Run
The ForePaugh circus arrived in our city at 5 30 this morning returning to winter quarters. It was the longest traveling show recently on the road starting April 3 from Baraboo with first stop in Springfield Illinois and last in Sardis Mississippi on the 23rd. Across 21 states and 174 towns the troupe covered 11581 miles performing 374 times over 30 weeks and 5 days. Workers unload wagons and animals all day.

Funeral for James Maloney at St. Joseph's Church
The funeral for James Maloney, who died Sunday, was held at 9:30 this morning from St. Joseph's Church. Rev. Father Durward officiated with the usual choir providing music. Pallbearers were Herman Koenecke, James McGinnis, W. J. Power, F. J. Donahue, James McGuan, and John O’Keefe. Interment followed in the Catholic cemetery.

Corn Shredder Accident at Hamburg Farm
A corn shredder overturned when prancing horses frightened by the machine at John Hamburg’s Skillet Creek farm. Hamburg was on the shredder as the front axle cracked and the team pulled away before Henry Bittrich halted the run. No injuries are detailed.
