Mayor Marriott Reviews Busy City Year in Annual Address
In his annual address to the council Mayor Marriott notes a busy year with a beginning treasury of 26175.26 and year start balance 29067.48. Total receipts last year were 235818.66 and expenditures 206751.18. The street committee condemned bad walks and oversaw cement and macadam street work including 15346 feet of cement walks and 6645.30 spent on macadam. Aldermen were paid 214.10 for inspection and related duties.

Joseph Webster aged 68 died last night at his Fairfield home from tuberculosis and heart failure linked to a runaway accident years ago. Born in Vermont he moved to Illinois in 1858 then Wisconsin in 1859 settling in Fairfield. survived by a wife and six children Rosa Earl Merton Lula Iva and Verda. Funeral Thursday at 1 p m at his house with services at Fairfield Methodist Church at 1 30 p m.

The lodge goat of the Rebekahs of Baraboo aided in forming a new Gem City lodge in North Freedom. Thirteen North Freedom and eighteen Baraboo members created the Ruby lodge with Mrs. S. J. Rudy as Noble Grand and Mrs. Densie Howell as Treasurer. Mrs. Okey of Madison assisted as state president. The officers include Ida Borkenhagen Vice Grand and Lillian Rudy Secretary. A repast followed the evening ceremonies before the Baraboo group returned by night train.
