Enthusiastic Meeting Of C. Of C. Held At Lost Valley
The Ban area Chamber of Commerce held a February meeting at Lost Valley Ranch to discuss growth and an advertising drive. Funds raised surpassed $2,000 cash with pledges over $1,000 in just two and a half days, and fundraising continues to March 10 with another general meeting planned at Lost Valley Ranch.

Last Rites For J T Pennington Held Here
Jessie T Pennington longtime Bandera resident died in San Antonio hospital after an extended illness. Funeral at Plummer Chapel Tuesday February 25 at 2 pm with Rev J Manley Reynolds officiating burial in Bandera cemetery beside his wife. Survivors include four daughters three sons one sister thirteen grandchildren eleven great grandchildren active pallbearers named.

Former Bandera Man Receives Air Force Award
SSgt. John L. Lewis a flight engineer at Harlingen AFB received the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award ribbon. He was with the 54th Weather Reconnaissance Squadron on Guam for locating and tracking fourteen typhoons to gather vital data. He and his wife Claudia and daughter Leslie Dee are now stationed at Harlingen. He is the son of Mrs. Julius Mazurek Jr. of Bandera.

Frank Montague Sr and John Saul visited Georgetown on Tuesday where Montague bought six Charolaise bulls from Dr. C. H. Langford and his brother Othel. Four bulls will be sent to the D’Hanis ranch and two to the Eagle Pass ranch. Hug Moore also bought a Langford bull.

Mrs. Robert Ewen Rites Held in Houston
Funeral services for Mrs. Robert Ewen wife of Houston Oil Field Material Co. Inc. vice president were held February 22 at George H. Lewis and Sons in Houston. Entombment followed in Forest Park Mausoleum. She died in St Marys Hospital Galveston at age 70. She had lived in Houston 42 years and was born in Giddings. Survivors include her husband two children a sister a granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.
