Golden Wedding Anniversary of Mr and Mrs Sylvan Odom

Mr and Mrs Sylvan R Odom celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with open house on February 8 1970. Hosts were their children and many relatives from Boerne Pipe Creek Lakehills San Antonio and nearby communities. The couple married February 9 1920 in Boerne and lived in Pipe Creek before moving to Boerne. They have three children and six grandchildren of whom SP/4 Ken Odom is serving in Viet Nam. A large guest list and gifts included a money tree from their daughter in law Harley Odom.

Church of Christ Welcomes New Minister in Bandera

Mr and Mrs Martin Smith with two daughters Debbie and Joy arrived from Stephenville where he served Santo Church of Christ. He will be full time minister of the Bandera Church of Christ. Mrs Smith hails from Stephenville and Mr Smith is from Boles Home Quinlan. Debbie entered Bandera Public School for first grade.

City offers brush pickup truck for residents

Mayor Gilbert Scheele announced the city now has a brush pickup truck. Residents trimming trees and shrubs should pile debris near the street, cut it into manageable pieces, and await collection and hauling.

Silver Tea at Bandera County Library Invites Attendance

The Bandera County Public Library hosts a Silver Tea on March 2, 1970 from 2 to 5 p.m. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library, the event invites all county residents and friends. Mrs. E. M. Pue chairs with Mrs. G. M. Merritt as co chair. committee members include Mrs. Fritz Saur and Mrs. Fabian Anderwald the librarian.

Comedy Bank Detectives shown at Catholic hall
