60th Wedding Anniversary for Two Medina Couples

Death of Mrs. L. D. Chandler in Medina
Mrs. L. D. Chandler of Medina died in her sleep Monday night at home near Medina. Born Ruth Cannon Chandler November 24 1912 in Florence Texas she married L. D. Chandler September 25 1948 in San Antonio and had son Barry Earl Chandler. Funeral services were held at Medina First Baptist Church with Rev Mae Pope and burial in Medina Oak Rest Cemetery. Survivors include her husband son two sisters and one brother.

J M Scruggs laid to rest in Bandera after long illness
J M Scruggs a Bandera resident since 1954 died Sunday night December 20 1970 in Sid Peterson Memorial Hospital Kerrville after an extended illness. He was born September 5 1903 in Altus Oklahoma son of Robert G Scruggs and Mayberta Brown Scruggs. A lumberman by trade he managed Alamo Lumber Company in Bandera and remained when Langford's bought the firm. He was married to Alice Goodenough and had two sons and a daughter. He was a member of Bandera Masonic Lodge 1123 AF AM. Funeral conducted December 22 from Bandera Methodist Church with Rev Leon Sims officiating and graveside at Bandera Cemetery under Masonic auspices. Survivors include wife Alice. daughter Mary Alice Kalka of San Antonio. sons Robert G Scruggs III of San Antonio and Joseph M Scruggs Jr of Oklahoma City. mother Mayberta Scruggs of Carrizo Springs. seven grandchildren. Pallbearers listed with honorary pallbearers from the Masons.

Milton Anderson, a 23 year Tarpley resident aged 77, died December 18 1970 at Kerrville VA Hospital after a long illness. He was WWI veteran, husband of Nora Genea Anderson, and father of four with eight grandchildren and four step-grandchildren. Services were December 19 at Grace Lutheran. interment in Tarpley Cemetery.
