Fallon county pupils staged the First Annual School Exhibit in the Congregational church basement with entries from the Potato and Garden Canning Clubs. Agricultural Agent Thorfinnson judged farm products. Stella Potterton and Beat rice Sult awarded prizes. Winners earning a trip to Helena listed Dale Martin Irma Orton Helen Owen. A wide array of grade work featured needlework maps and displays.

Copper Strike Settlement Near as Union Backs Offer
A mass meeting of the Anaconda mill and smeltermen union in Anaconda Montana backed an offer from the Anaconda Copper company. Members voted to return to work immediately at the smelter and mines. The new scale sets a $450 minimum for common labor with sliding increases as copper prices rise and additional raises for skilled crafts.

Shark Bites An Autoist In Honolulu Auto Incident
In Hawaii a shark attack occurred as Carl Nakuina tried to load a 12 foot shark into a car. His arm was badly lacerated when the shark snapped jaws while still in the vehicle. He was taken to the emergency hospital for treatment.

Roderick R Koenveds of Minneapolis Minnesota, a private in the third squadron, died after a plane crash at about 8 o clock this morning at the training camp. He fell about 20 feet and died of burns. His mother Dr Jane F Remeediv survives.

Girls of Serbia Kidnapped by Turks
Ten thousand Serbian girls aged 10 to 14 have reportedly been kidnapped and deported from Serbia to harems in Constantinople Bulgaria and Asia Minor. Serbian Premier Pasitch in London says the trafficking has escalated since February 1916 with eight thousand sent to Constantinople and two thousand to Bulgaria and Asia Minor. He blames Bulgarian organizers and notes the tragedy has emptied many small towns of young women.

Two Women Appointed to Montana State College Faculty
In Bozeman on September 10 Miss Lisa Osterman, trained in home economics at the University of Wisconsin and a Columbia Teachers College graduate student, was elected instructor in the home economics department to teach textiles, replacing Miss Amy Rolfe who resigned. Lora Maxwell of Wrozeman was named assistant in physical education under Dean Una Herrick, filling the post of Eva McKinney who resigned to pursue further study.

A large group of relatives and friends met Company I of the Second Montana Infantry as they arrived by troop train in Glendive. The Baker unit, totaling 150 men under Captain Wade Goble and Lieutenant Charles Hartle, will train at Camp Green, Charlotte NC, before sailing for France.
