Anderson Wins Case Against Homestead Patent
The United States case against Carl A. Anderson to annul his homestead patent was decided in his favor by a Federal Court in Helena. Judge Bourquin ruled that actual residence means true and substantial habitation with intent to continue for three years, allowing absence as long as conduct and good faith evidence habitation. Obituary: W Jassaud Dies After Brief Pneumonia Illness
W Jassaud, a Civil War veteran, died at 9 o clock Sunday night at his home two miles northeast of Westmore after a brief pneumonia illness. He was 76, came to Montana eight years ago on a homestead, and left a wife and two daughters in Westmore with relatives in Minneapolis. Emma accompanied burial chains to Minneapolis.
