Mrs Flynn Dies in Tacoma After Pneumonia

Mrs Tom Flynn, formerly of Baker, died in Tacoma on January 27 after pneumonia. A prior report of her death was in error. Her husband Tom Flynn survived with many friends in Baker and sympathy is offered by the bereaved family.

Custer High Again Wins District Hoop Title

Basketball fans hail the Miles City district tournament as the best yet. Custer High defeated Hysham 13 to 11 to claim the district title. Baker High, though in its first tournament, impressed by reaching the third round. Baker beat Hysham 24 to 10 and then Ekalaka 18 to 6 before facing Fairview in the final game.

Legion Hosts Commercial Club Meeting With Norwegian Whist

The Commercial club held its regular meeting Friday evening in Legion rooms at Fallon post. After the business session, Norwegian whist followed and lunch was served at midnight.

Senate Bill Seeks Pay Cap for County Commissioners

Helena letter notes Fallon county voters oppose changing primary law now and urge economy. Senate Bill 98 sets a $2,500 cap for all three commissioners in seventh class counties. Fallon county spent $3,855.53 last year, near the top for its class.

Seed Exchange Draws Fallon Farmers

Fallon county farmers attended a seed exchange on Tuesday. Attendees included A. B. Long, Bentley Sinclair, Odin Myhre, Bergstrom, Theodore Braun, Karl Pinnow, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Larson, Chris Nester, and others from area routes and ranches.

E A Hibbard Dies At Home In Baker

E A Hibbard a well known Baker resident died at his home Wednesday morning at 5 30. Born July 24 1864 in Jefferson county Wisconsin he married Mary Julia Hanratty on April 2 1891. The couple lived in the Twin Cities for 17 years worked on railroads then moved to Montana and farmed near Baker for 16 years. He is survived by his wife, sons, a brother Warren G Hibbard of LaCrosse Wisconsin, a sister Mrs A Anderson of Norwich Wisconsin, and his niece Miss Lorene Hibbard of Baker. Funeral services expected at the Catholic church Friday morning.

Legion to Present City Park Plan at Council Meeting

The American Legion committee will present the proposed city park at the next regular city council meeting. The effort, backed by Baker’s loyal citizens, follows a Sentinel-driven push a year ago and gains strong local endorsement. A big carnival dance is set for Saturday March 7 at Webster Hall under Legion auspices.

County Club Plans Seed Fund and Prizes for 4 H Members

The Baker Commercial club allocates 50 dollars for a revolving seed corn fund to assist the extension office. An agricultural committee will raise a cash prize fund by subscription to reward 4 H members for satisfactory projects and top club performance. A county agent offers farm account guidance and reports a farmer's net income of 1540 dollars after expenses and interest.

Canning Club Girls Win in National Contest

Pleasant Valley canning club members Mary Geving Francis Schartz and Anna Weinscroft won prizes in the National canning contest by the Hazel Atlas Glass company. Geving placed 2nd on carrots winning $9, Schartz 8th on beets $3, and Weinscroft 10th for park or arms with $1. A farm account school was held at Webster hall on February 17 with farmers receiving farm account books.

A series of clothing demonstrations held in Fallon county during the week of February 17 1920 showcased foundation pattern use to save time and cut pattern costs. Sessions at Willard Webster Pleasant Valley and Springdale covered care repair renovation and dry cleaning basics with home made pressing equipment and stain removal techniques.

W. H. Dooley, a former Seattle buyer, stays in business in Baker and buys the hog operation started by James Pepper. He aims to maintain a local market for small stockmen, with headquarters at the Commercial hotel. Hog prices remain steady and strong as he offers top prices.

Woman's Club Meeting and Community Notes in Baker

The Baker Woman's club met Tuesday afternoon with Mrs Blake presiding in Mrs Corbitt's absence. A program on American citizenship featured readings, songs, and dramatizations by local students and the high school orchestra. Social time followed with refreshments. Montana Children’s Home official visits Baker

Rev. Arthur D. Sloat of Billings, superintendent of the Yellowswi district of the Montana Children’s Home Society, is in Baker on business seeking more homes for orphans. In the past year the society placed 310 children in good homes in the state, and over 2500 have found homes overall.
