Levy Supports County Fair Grounds and Buildings

A proposed measure would allow a one mill levy to create and fund county fair grounds and permanent buildings. A five member county fair board will be appointed by the county commissioners. The plan also provides 2500 annually for exhibits, 1000 to transport county exhibits to the Montana state fair, and prohibits using tax money for horse races.

Poindexter Appointed U S District Judge for Hawaii

Joseph B. Poindexter of Dillon Montana was nominated by President Wilson as United States district judge for Hawaii. He is a well known Montana jurist and Democratic leader whose name had circulated for the Hawaii post, pleasing his numerous friends in Butte. Poindexter had previously served as Montana attorney general under Governor Stewart and was praised for his service in the governor's corps.
