Welfare Clinics for Fallon County Children Held
Final arrangements have been completed by Miss Margaret Shellabarger county Superintendent of schools for child welfare clinics in Fallon County this week. Clinics were held at Unie on Wednesday and at Plevna on Thursday. The first local clinic will be held in Baker from 1 to 5 o'clock on Friday and Saturday, August 17 and 18, and also on August 8 and 9. The clinics, in the basement of the Methodist church, are led by Mrs Gonezy, head nurse for the state board of health child welfare division, under the Sheppard-Towner act. All parents of preschool children are invited to bring them for free examination. Helpful notes on recent science advances in child welfare will be provided.

Wheat fields near harvest and farmers busy with machinery promise a large fall yield. The outing included a luncheon in the timber reserve and fruit picking in nearby hills. Upon returning to the T T Lunder home a welcoming crowd joined for supper. Mr Lunder farms about a thousand acres and is expected to lead in forthcoming harvests.

War veteran with no hands earns job using artificial hands

Baker team sets new mound record with Foster Roberts win
Last Sunday the Baker squad, with Foster Roberts of Baker formerly of Ollie, held former comrades to 18 runs and set a new record on the mound. Ex cellent Lall pitched superbly as Baker’s lineup, including Glenn Miller who produced multiple hits and extra base drives, battled the visitors. Red Black caught with a strong display as the team received top support. Ollie’s lineup is expected to feature the same focal players when they meet again.

River Claim Is Victim at Miles City in Yellowstone
USA John J. Reilley a Milwaukee shopman in Miles City drowned in the Yellowstone river just west of the town on Sunday. His wife and son watched helplessly as cramps felled him after he had returned to shore from a post-work swim. W H Reilley, brother and assistant cashier of the First National Bank of Miles City, was in St Paul when the tragedy occurred.

Pension Granted After Long Deliberation for Great Falls Civil War Vet
Franklin Combs, a Civil War veteran and pioneer resident of Great Falls, received notice from Congressman Scott Leavitt that his pension claim dating from January 15, 1900, has been approved by the Bureau of Pensions.
