Death of Supreme Foreman Matson in Chicago
The A O U W Bulletin reports the sudden death of Supreme Foreman C R Matson at his Chicago home on January 14 1903 after a brief illness. The funeral was held at English Lutheran church and many lodge members from Kentucky Illinois and Wisconsin attended. Matson a Civil War veteran served as sheriff and coroner of Cook County and was deeply active in the order and community. The article notes his leadership and hopeful remarks about the order’s growth in 1902 and 1903.
