Plowman and Reaper Tale From Michigan Field
A Detroit Advertiser piece describes a five manes team hitched to a McCormick reaper in Cotdown county Michigan. The mares panicked the machine, zigzagging across the wheat field as the rake reel sliced grain, scattering it widely. A Dutch driver was tossed when the machine struck a stone, ending with the mares fleeing and the reaper damaged. Nearby old fashioned cradles and a patent reaper for sale were spotted. Worthington farm near Chillicothe Ohio is highlighted as an extensive 700 acre property with orchards and fine improvements, valued cows and stock, and a dairy operation selling well in Durham.
