Plant purchase decision debated by Shire council
Alkemade pressed for buying a plant to share among Shires with cost sharing and potential savings on road contracts. Arguments cited improved road work, payback from reduced costs, and prior savings by Bannockburn Shire. The council favored purchase with pro rata payments and inspections for a roller and related equipment.

Drainage rate discussion and riding finances noted
The council considers a drainage rate across eight areas with porosity reducing need for works. Estimated land value 3600 pounds, full land and channel cost about 2000 pounds with fees, aiming for 190 pounds annual income and seven pence per pound rate. The Bacchus Marsh Riding shows debt and shifting balances while tendering for concrete drain per Dr Will's spec. Previous concrete channel details are unavailable and contract prices recorded at 4 shillings 3 pence per chain.
