Poisoning outbreak in Tijuana claims many children

Eleven children dead and as many as twenty feared sick after suspected milk poisoning in Tijuana. Authorities rounded up about 20 dairy operators and shop owners for investigation as hospitals flooded with poorly children. Milk found in stomachs of treated victims suggests dairy products as the likely source.

McAllen Estate Isolated by Floodwaters

The old Nefer estate south of McAllen Texas was isolated today by floodwaters from an overflowing floodway parallel to the Rio Grande. McAllen itself was not in danger.

Girl Claims She Got Pregnant During Prison Visit

West Berlin Mayor Albertz resigns amid report by parliament

West Berlin Mayor Heinrich Albertz submitted his resignation today, confirmed by Parliament President Walter Sickt ert. Motorcyclist 16 Fatally Injured in Austin Collision

A 16 year old, Roger Allen Myhre, died after a collision with a pickup on 3rd Ave in Austin near Holy Cross Church. The truck driver Chester Klingins had minor injuries. Myhre was a student at Austin High School and is survived by his parents and brother. Funeral services set for Grace Lutheran Church. The county toll rises to five deaths in Mower County this year.

Dismissal Asked for Conviction of UAW Agent

A lawyer for Larry Campbell former Teamsters Local 299 business agent asked that his 1964 jury tampering conviction be set aside. Campbell is serving a three year sentence at Sandstone Federal Prison after being convicted in Chattanooga Tennessee. The motion argues that the government paid for allegedly perjured testimony by Edward Partin of New Orleans.

New York Teachers Strike Enters Third Week Without Break

In New York City the public school strike enters its third week as negotiators stay deadlocked on contract issues. Mayor John V. Lindsay called both sides to City Hall for eight hours of talks, but no agreement emerged as attendance at about 900 schools plunged to roughly 130000 of 1.1 million students.

Melrose Park Man Tops Line for World Series Tickets

Ralph J. Belcore of Melrose Park Illinois claims to be first in line for World Series tickets at Metropolitan Stadium in Minneapolis home of the Minnesota Twins. He began his vigil last Saturday morning and will continue until the pennant race decides tickets. Belcore says he has attended 22 World Series and 6 of 107 series games.
